Police Excellence Awards

The 2021 Nine News WA Police Excellence Awards are now open for nominations.

The awards are to recognise police officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication and service to the people of Western Australia, uphold the core values of the WA Police Force and raise confidence in policing.

Now more than ever, it is important to recognise the extraordinary work being done during these extraordinary times by police officers.

This is one of the most high-profile ways the community can acknowledge the fantastic work of, not only an individual police officer or team, but policing in general.

Nominations are easy and can be completed online. Click here to nominate a police officer or police team.

Finalists will be announced mid-October 2021 with the winners to be announced at an event at Optus Stadium on Thursday 9 December.

The WA Police Force thanks this year’s sponsors Nine PerthWA Today,  6PR and P&N Bank.

Police Excellence Awards’ CSA videos are now on Channel Nine

The WA Police Force is proud to share two Community Service Announcements that are currently airing on Channel 9.

Filmed and edited by Nine News Perth in-conjunction with the agency, the CSA’s feature two incidents that played out in Western Australia in the last 12 months.

The Emergency Operations Unit helped coordinate a successful land search for a missing 4-year-old girl on a remote pastural property in the Pilbara.
Police held serious concerns for the little girl’s safety as the area recently received heavy rainfall and creeks surrounding the property were in flood.
A two-day search effort involving police from Newman, Nullagine and Marble Bar worked long into the night, with help from station hands and mustering helicopters from nearby properties.

Hope was fading until the little girl was spotted from the air sheltering on a mound of grass in the middle of a flooded creek. A happy ending thanks to the collective effort of all involved and strategic oversight provided by Emergency Operations Unit.

The second CSA features The Drug and Firearm Squad.

The team used intelligence gained during the COVID hard border regime to refine their capabilities in identifying vehicles of interest. The result, a truckload of methamphetamine and millions in cash.

Do you know an officer or a police team worthy of a mention?

Time is running out to nominate.  Nine News WA Police Excellence Awards, acknowledge outstanding policing and delivery of service to our community.
